Evening DJ or all-day wedding music?

Choose the coverage around the parts of the wedding that still need music or microphones. If your ceremony and speeches are already covered, evening entertainment may be the right fit. If you want one coordinated plan from the ceremony to the evening party, look at all-day coverage.

Our two starting points for wedding DJ coverage
Service Guide price What it covers
Evening DJ From £650 Five hours of DJ entertainment, sound, booth, lighting and personal music planning.
All Day Wedding From £1,000 Morning setup, ceremony PA and music, speeches and announcements, wedding breakfast music, venue coordination and evening DJ.

Agree the actual start and finish times in your proposal. “All day” should describe the coverage you have discussed; it should not leave you guessing about which rooms, key moments or equipment are included. See our wedding packages if you also want to bring the DJ and extras together.

What affects a wedding DJ quote?

1. Playing time and setup access

Tell the DJ when guests arrive, when the meal and speeches are expected to finish, and when the music must stop. Setup time and playing time are different. A room turnaround after the wedding breakfast may need a different arrangement from a room that is available all morning. Ask whether early setup or additional playing time changes the quote.

2. The venue and the spaces you are using

A hotel reception in Eastbourne, a barn near Lewes and a woodland celebration can involve different practical arrangements. Confirm the actual room, unloading access, stairs or lifts, power and any sound restrictions. If music is needed outside, discuss the weather alternative and how the music will move between spaces. Our venue and DJ setup guide gives you the questions to take to your venue.

3. Equipment and extras

A DJ sound system and party lighting are different from decorative venue uplighting, an additional dance floor or a photo booth. Check the list of equipment instead of assuming that a photograph shows everything included in every package.

With SDC, you can explore a white LED starlight dance floor, Magic Mirror, uplighting and other wedding extras. Floor size, the selected letters or numbers, the mirror’s operating hours and installation arrangements should all be clear. Dancing on Clouds and confetti require venue approval.

4. Music planning and communication

Ask how you will share your first dance, songs you want included, music you enjoy and songs to avoid. It also helps to agree how guest requests and announcements will be handled. A list of favourites gives your DJ direction while leaving room to respond to your guests.

After booking with Sussex DJ Company, your private PlanningBeats portal keeps your event details, timings and music ideas together. You can add thoughts as your plans develop, rather than trying to remember every request in one conversation.

Eight questions to ask before accepting a quote

  1. What is the total for our actual date and venue? Confirm what is included and whether any travel, access, early setup or additional hours would change the amount.
  2. Which parts of the day are covered? Put the agreed setup window, music start, key announcements and finish time in writing.
  3. What will the setup look like? Ask for examples of the booth, sound and lighting being proposed, and confirm which extras are included.
  4. Who will be our DJ? Ask how your DJ is chosen, when their details are confirmed and how your music brief reaches them.
  5. How do we plan our music? Clarify songs to include, songs to avoid, guest requests and the first and final songs.
  6. What does our venue need? Check space, access, power, sound limits and any required insurance or equipment documents.
  7. What are the contingency arrangements? Ask what happens if the DJ is ill or equipment develops a problem.
  8. How is the booking confirmed? Read the proposal, agreement, deposit amount, payment timetable and cancellation terms before accepting.

Look for evidence that matches your celebration

Review totals are useful, but read what couples say about the parts that matter to you: communication, music choices, setup and how the evening ran. Check the review dates and original sources. Look at SDC client feedback and independent review links, then explore our real event photos and videos.

For a specific example, read about Kat and Hash’s wedding evening at Alfriston Gardens. Their choice of final songs is a useful reminder that a music brief can shape the end of the party as much as the first dance.

An enquiry or saved package does not reserve your date. Your personal proposal and booking documents set out availability, the agreed services, final price and the steps needed to confirm the booking.
